The Montgomery Unit

The Montgomery Unit at Potomac Ridge Behavioral Health at Rockville  is a specialized inpatient program focusing on the treatment of mood and co-occurring disorders in adults. Patients admitted to the unit will have a planned day structured around extensive therapy programs. The Montgomery Unit staff will work with patients on a short-term basis to achieve remission of the disorder and offers the necessary tools to achieve remission and prevent recurrence of the disorder in the long-term.

Mood disorders are the most prevalent and treatable of psychiatric illnesses. The Montgomery Unit staff provides patients with the keys to maintaining their health- understanding their diagnosis, being an active participant in the goals of their treatment and providing a plan for continuing care. Our experienced and skilled psychiatrists utilize the most recent research findings in their treatment plans and work with the rest of the treatment team, including psychiatric nurses and therapists.

The Montgomery Unit utilizes multiple treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, multi-family group therapy and psychoeducational interventions. The unit will provide an emphasis on accurate diagnosis, appropriate psychopharmacologic interventions and cognitive behavioral training and education on topics such as mood disorder management, anger management and stress management. Patients with co-occurring anxiety disorders and substance abuse will be offered additional treatment planning and education. Guided imagery and meditation will aid the patient's recovery in both mind and body.
