Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Appoints Two New Members to Governing Board

Terry Forde and Robert T. Vandeman Join Board for Full Terms

Rockville, MD – Two new members have been appointed for full terms to the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Governing Board: Terry Forde, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Adventist HealthCare, and Robert T. Vandeman, executive secretary of the Columbia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

“I am pleased to add these two new members to the Governing Board at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital,” said Dennis Hansen, president of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. “I am confident that they will bring valuable and unique perspectives that will support the advancement of our hospital vision.”

Forde has been appointed for a first, 3-year term, which began on Oct. 6, 2011 and ends Dec. 31, 2013. Forde is also currently a member of the Professional Affairs and Strategic Development Committees for 2011.

“I am excited to join Shady Grove Adventist Hospital’s Governing Board,” stated Terry Forde. “I hope to collaborate closely with other board members to help shape and grow Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.”

Forde came to Adventist HealthCare in June 2011. Prior to this, he served as an executive at Centura Health in Denver, Colorado. In addition, Forde has 19 years of experience in various health care roles in locations such as Kansas, Missouri and Colorado. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Union College in Nebraska and a M.B.A. in Finance from Mid America Nazarene University in Kansas.

“It is an honor to receive full-term appointment to the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Governing Board,” noted Vandeman. “I am looking forward to continuing our work as part of the board to support the mission of the hospital.”

Vandeman has over 40 years of ministry experience including several pastoral positions. He also has over 30 years of administrative experience serving on numerous committees, boards and associations. He holds a B.A. in Theology from Union College in Nebraska and a M.A. in Divinity from Andrews University in Michigan.
