Baby of 2012
Baby Boy Arrives at 12:49 a.m.
Rockville, MD –
Shady Grove Adventist
Hospital welcomed its first
baby of 2012, a boy, weighing 7lbs, 14 oz., was born at 12:49 a.m. on January 1.
Both mother and baby are doing well.
The
baby is among the first born in the Washington,
D.C. metropolitan area in 2012.

our expert physicians and staff recognize that each birth is an intimate and special
experience for a family,” said Terry
Francis, Director of Perinatal Services. “We are pleased to welcome this
first baby of 2012 and look forward to celebrating many more births at our
hospital this year.”
To honor both the first baby boy and the first baby girl born
at Shady Grove Adventist
Hospital in 2012, these New
Year’s babies and their parents will receive special gift baskets from nurses
in the Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby Units. The baskets of baby
essentials includes handmade towels, blankets, hats and booties.

Hospital delivers 5,000
babies each year. For newborns who need
specialized care when they arrive, Shady Grove has a Level IIIB Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU), one of the highest possible ratings attainable. In addition, the hospital has all private
Mother/Baby suites and offers the area’s only birth advisor – a professional
nurse who provides free counseling and birth planning services for
parents-to-be.
