Touched Beyond Words
Aminata Touray doesn’t write letters often, but after her daughter’s illness she felt she “had to thank the people that cared for little Fatoumata.”
Fatoumata was diagnosed with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a respiratory pathogen that can cause pneumonia, bronchiolitis, or croup.
The doctor sent her to the Emergency Department at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Fatoumata was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for two weeks.
In her letter, Mrs. Touray praised the PICU staff saying, “They should be proud to have them at their facility. Dr. Lakhani came to check on Fatoumata on his day off. Racine Miller answered any questions that we had. Patrice Caines made sure Fatoumata was comfortable, responding quickly at all times. Kay Rose made sure that everyone in our family ate and she became almost like a close friend.”
When Fatoumata was taken off the machines, Kay handed her to her mom and said “give her love.” “This touched me beyond words,” said Mrs. Touray.
