Patient & Visitor Parking Information
The following frequently asked questions are provided to assist our patients and visitors with parking during their visit to the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital campus.
How do Discount Tickets Work?
Discount tickets (40% off) are available in packets of 5 for $15.00. Tickets are not sold individually.
Each ticket has a $5 value and allows one in/out in a 24-hour period
These tickets are for patients or families who frequent the hospital or for several family members who may be visiting at one time period
What are the instructions for using a discount ticket?
-
Park your car in the parking lot and keep the pulled ticket with you
- When your visit to the hospital has ended, you will need your pulled ticket and one of the discounted tickets from the Gift Shop
- Go back out to your car and pull up to the gate
- First insert the ticket that you pulled that day into the slot
- Then "chase" the first pulled ticket with the second, blue discounted ticket. Keep the magnetic strip up and to the right
- The discounted ticket will pay the fee and lift the gate
- If you have problems, please push the silver intercom button "Information" or "Call" to the left of the ticket inserter
- The discount tickets are for one in/out. For return visits to the hospital on the same day, another ticket will be pulled at entry and you will need to pay for that second entrance into the lot.
When are the parking gates in operation in Shady Grove's patient/visitor lots?
The gates are in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What are the fees?
The fee is $1.50 per hour with a maximum of $5 per lot per entry/exit. If a patient/visitor leaves the campus and returns later in the same day, the clock re-starts and they will have to pull another ticket upon re-entry and pay for the second entrance. There is a 20-minute grace period to allow for patient drop-off and pick up.
Who Pays?
In general, all visitors and patients pay for parking. This approach was chosen in order to keep a low hourly rate.
Where do I park?
Visitors may park in either the MAIN Visitor lot or the EAST lot located at the main entrance of the hospital. Emergency Department visitors and patients may park in the Emergency Department lot. Please bring your parking ticket with you. You will need your pulled ticket at the Pay on Foot station located in the vestibules at each lobby.
How do I pay?
Pay on Foot machines are located in the main lobby and in the Emergency Department lobby. These machines accept CASH and major CREDIT CARDS. You may also pay at the exit gates. The exit gate will accept credit card payment only.
Why do we pay for parking?
Like other hospitals in the region, we have to find ways to offset the cost of providing parking spaces for all who visit our campus. Charging a reasonable fee covers the cost of our current and future parking needs as well as the maintenance of our grounds/lots (snow and trash removal, repairs, security cameras, etc)
How do I report a problem?
To reach a parking attendant please contact Security at 240-826-6671. If you would like to share a concern or problem related to parking, please call 202-409-0811 (M-F, 9 a.m. -5 p.m.). Urgent problems should be directed to Security at 240-826-6671.
How are lost or damaged tickets handled?
A patient or visitor who has lost or damaged their ticket will need to contact the on-duty parking attendant by using the intercom system at the gates or pay stations, or by calling Security at 240-826-6671. The cashier in the Emergency Department can also handle lost / damaged tickets. Lost tickets are $5.00.
