Hospital Expansion

Since opening its doors in 1979, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital has served one of the fastest growing areas and one of the largest populated jurisdictions in the State of Maryland. To meet the healthcare needs of our community, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital opened a new four story patient tower in November 2007. Every inch of the tower has been designed to meet our patient’s needs for privacy, comfort, and healing.

The four-year, $100 million project will greatly enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver high-level care to its rapidly growing community adding more than 207,000 square feet of space to the hospital.  Another 52,000 square feet of space in the existing hospital will also be renovated by 2009.  When the four-year project is complete, Shady Grove will have the capacity for 296 patient beds.

This healing environment allows for an enhanced experience for our patients, while receiving the exceptional care that they have come to expect at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

• Shady Grove Adventist Hospital will now offer 144 private patient rooms, including 48 private mother-baby suites. The rooms have accommodations for family members and every aspect has been designed with you, the patient in mind.
• A new surgical services department for inpatient and outpatient surgical services, with more operating rooms than any Montgomery County hospital. This will accommodate the busy schedules of both you and your physician. There are private consultation rooms to discuss sensitive healthcare issues with your physician and special kid friendly waiting and treatment areas have been created to take care of our littlest patients.
• Dedicated units for Cancer Care, Mother/Baby, Medical and Post Surgical designed to provide exceptional care in an enhanced environment.
• Decentralized nursing stations to bring care to the patient’s bedside.
• Expanded Emergency Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
