In Maryland, where reimbursement rates are controlled by a state health commission, hospitals have experienced a reduction in reimbursements. This makes for a real challenge for hospitals to: stay on the leading edge of medical technology, expand vital services, build new much-needed facilities and renovate current facilities to provide patients and their families with top-notch medical care in modern comfortable surroundings.

What is our mission? 
The Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Foundation is committed to creating opportunities for philanthropic support to assist Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in accomplishing its mission of providing health care to patients from our communities.

When was the Foundation established? 
The Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Foundation is part of the Adventist HealthCare system. The Foundation was separately incorporated on January 13, 1981 as a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization.

Is the Foundation a tax-exempt organization? 
Yes. Tax-exempt status was granted by the Internal Revenue Service, Department of the Treasury in a letter dated August 5. 1981.

When I make a gift, where does my money go? 
Your gift supports Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. If you designate a particular area of the hospital, that is where your gift will go. If you do not designate a specific purpose for your gift, it is used for a most needed project, which is usually medical equipment.

Will my gift support the Adventist Church? 
Although the Hospital is founded on the health and service philosophy of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the hospital is managed by health care professionals. Service is provided on a non-denominational and non-discriminatory basis. Church monies do not flow into the health care system, nor do health care systems monies go to support the church work.
