Barry Greene, M.D.
Barry Greene, M.D. is board certified in General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Greene graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine and continued his education at the Wright State University School of Medicine/USAF Integrated General Surgery Residency.
Dr. Greene is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, and the Montgomery County Medical Society. While in the United States Air Force he developed a Laparoscopic surgery program and through the years has taught Laparoscopic surgery. He has received numerous honors, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and Oak Leaf. Dr. Greene performs Weight Loss Surgery at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
Tuesday F. A. Cook, M.D.
Tuesday F. A. Cook is a general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. Dr. Cook received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and afterward completed a general surgery residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She then completed a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at the Pennsylvania State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Dr. Cook is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. She is also a member of the Association of Women Surgeons and the American Medical Association. Her areas of special interest include minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, including procedures for the treatment of achalasia, gastroesophageal reflux disease and paraesophageal hernias. In addition, she performs donor nephrectomies and is interested in the laparoscopic approach to the surgical treatment of disorders of the adrenal gland.
Stephen J. McKenna, M.D.
Stephen McKenna, M.D. is board certified in General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. McKenna received his bachelors of arts degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and continued his education at Howard University College of Medicine. He later completed a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery and bariatrics at Providence Hospital.
Dr. McKenna is a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and the Society of Laparoscoendoscopic Surgeons.
Mandy Mirzaie, RD, LDN
Mandy Mirzaie, RD, LDN, works as Bariatric Clinical Dietitian. Mrs. Mirzaie is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. Mrs. Mirzaie is responsible for outpatient counseling of all Bariatric surgical patients and group education sessions for pre and postoperative patients.
Latasha N. Baxter, MSN, CRNP-A
Latasha N. Baxter, MSN, CRNP-A is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is a member of the American Association for Nurse Practitioners as well as Theta Sigma Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing. Prior to joining our team, Latasha worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the areas of General and Vascular Surgery as well as Interventional Radiology.
As the Bariatric Program Coordinator, she works closely with the Bariatric surgeons to coordinate all phases of the preoperative and postoperative process to maintain exceptional patient care. As a Bariatric patient, you will work closely with Latasha, from your first preoperative experience here at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital onward, as we provide support and encouragement needed for long term success.
Latasha also serves as a Liaison to coordinate Bariatric care throughout the hospital to ensure program compliance and meet quality standards expected as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.
