Lymphedema Therapy Program
Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland, which sits on the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital campus, offers a lymphedema therapy program.
Adventist Rehab’s certified Lymphedema Therapists provide a complete decongestive treatment approach for people suffering from lymphedema, which can sometimes develop one
to three years after surgery and/or radiation therapy. Treatment involves a specialized massage technique called manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), skin and nail care, compression bandaging and fitting for compression garments, remedial exercise and self-care training. The program’s goal is to reduce increased volume resulting from lymphedema and unresolved swelling, restore mobility, improve cosmesis, prevent infection and improve quality of life.
