Shady Grove Breast Center

In early 2012, the Shady Grove Breast Center will open on the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital campus in Rockville, MD. The center is brought to our community by Shady Grove Radiology, our trusted partners in radiology. This exciting new center will provide patients with comprehensive breast imaging and breast cancer support services. The center will aim to provide patients with an enhanced level of breast health care.

At the Shady Grove Breast Center, a special focus will be placed on proactive prevention and intervention through assessing a woman’s risk for developing breast cancer and evaluating the density of her breasts to develop a plan for the most appropriate type of breast imaging for each individual woman. (Research shows that dense breasts make a woman five times more likely for the cancer to be missed on a mammogram.)

Shady Grove Radiology’s six imaging facilities in the area will be able to leverage the expertise and knowledge of their physicians and breast experts who will offer Breast Center patients guidance and care following the identification of a suspicious lump or mass during breast screening.

Services offered at the Shady Grove Breast Center will include:

• Full field digital mammography: Shady Grove Radiology prides itself on delivering immediate results at the time of your mammogram to eliminate any added stress.
• Stereotactic, ultrasound-guided and MRI-guided biopsies: Used to help identify the cause of a suspicious lump or mass.
• Dedicated breast MRI with Computer-Aided Detection (CAD): The CAD system acts as a second set of eyes to enhance the accuracy of your exam.
• Bone densitometry
• Breast ultrasound
• Breast-focused radiation oncology program: Patients will receive comprehensive breast cancer treatment at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital following diagnosis.
