The majority of Adventist HealthCare facilities offer pleasant suburban living, and outstanding public school systems with the vitality of our nation's capital nearby. Culture and entertainment venues include the magnificent Kennedy Center, National Theatre and other prominent landmarks in Washington, D. C. Plus, similar attractions in Baltimore provide a limitless variety of enjoyable experiences for all ages.
Approximately 35 miles to the east is the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and Maryland's historic capital city of Annapolis, "the sailing capital of America." Two hours further east are the sparkling white sand beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.
For hiking, camping and skiing enthusiasts, the mountains and vast wild forests of Western Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Pennsylvania are just a few hours drive away.
Air travel convenience is provided by three easily accessible major airports. Reagan National and Dulles International airports are located in Northern Virginia; Baltimore-Washington International Airport is located between Washington and Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition, the area is surrounded by higher education facilities including the University of Maryland School of Nursing (rated as on of the "Top Ten Nursing Schools in America" by Newsweek Magazine). The school of nursing has a satellite campus in Montgomery County near Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Likewise, Columbia Union College, located next to Washington Adventist Hospital, is a four-year accredited nursing college operating under the auspices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The D.C. metro area is frequently cited as one of the most educated and culturally diverse in the USA.
